Tools for dysarthria and Parkinson's disease
After a stroke, a head injury, a tumour or in Parkinson's disease, speech therapy needs measures that can be repeated from one session to the next. Vocametrix gives them in the web browser, from a recording made with the device's microphone or an uploaded file.

In the Pronunciation Assessment, the patient listens to a reference text at normal or slow speed, then reads it. Scores from 0 to 100 are given for pronunciation, accuracy, fluency, completeness and prosody, and words below 90 % accuracy show in red. You can shorten the text to the patient's abilities, which also shows the patient what they already manage. Results export as JSON, so the same text can be compared over the weeks.
Diadochokinesis (pa-ta-ka)
The DDK tool records pa, ta, ka, pa-ta-ka or pa at a regular rate (up to 15 seconds, 40 for the regular task). It counts the syllables and gives the rate over the first nine syllables and overall, in syllables per second, the coefficient of variation, the nPVI and the acceleration, with a timeline of the syllables. When sex and age are entered, the results are set against the norms of Pierce, Cotton and Perry (2013) for adults aged 65 to 86, as z-scores.
Pitch and loudness
The fundamental frequency tool draws the pitch curve live or from a file, from 10 to 1,500 Hz, over a 10-second window, with the current value in Hz: useful for a monotone voice. The loudness tool shows the level relative to the microphone's maximum (dBFS). It is not a calibrated sound level meter: compare levels within one session, with the same microphone and distance.
Speech rate and transcription
Speech to Text transcribes a recording with a confidence for each word and gives words and syllables per minute, labelled slow, normal or fast; the transcript can be corrected and exported as JSON or SRT. Live transcription writes what is said into text you can copy or download.
Voice quality and home practice
The same account gives access to the voice assessment and the acoustic calculators (AVQI, DSI, CPP, jitter, shimmer, HNR), and to home practice missions you assign to your patients.
Pricing
Access to the site is a monthly subscription. Every account starts with a 7-day trial once its email address is verified, with no card required.
Häufige Fragen
Which norms does the DDK tool use?
Those of Pierce, Cotton and Perry (2013) for adults aged 65 to 86. They are shown as z-scores only when the patient's sex and age are entered.
Is the loudness measured in dB SPL?
No. The level is relative to the microphone's maximum (dBFS) and depends on the device: use it to compare recordings made with the same setup.
Can I follow a patient over time?
Yes: have the same text read or the same task done again and compare the scores, which can be exported.
Does the patient need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in a web browser on a device with a microphone.
